New grant program for small businesses

COVID-19 Recovery Grants for Small Businesses and Nonprofits
In partnership with the non-profit organization LiftFund, the City of San Antonio is utilizing funding provided from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act, to provide financial assistance in form of grants to small businesses and nonprofit organizations impacted financially by COVID-19.
Getting Started
Documents Required for Application
The grant application will require verification of pertinent documentation. Any applicants that are unable to provide the required documents may continue to submit a grant application for review.
Business Documents Required
Business entity formation document (document from Bexar County or Secretary of State with date of formation) prior to August 1, 2019. Other documentation to prove entity formation may be acceptable
Business operating bank statements from January through June 2020
Business tax return (2018 tax return acceptable) to determine revenue and prove losses
Payroll Documentation with employee listing/count and IRS 941 for Q1 2020
Valid Personal Identification including: Driver's license; ID; W-9 or 990
Proof of Business location inside City of San Antonio
Proof of business owner race, ethnicity and gender or South Central Texas Regional Certification Agency documentation (if applicable for ownership)
Military DD214 or honorable discharge documentation (if applicable for ownership)
Non Profit Documents Required

Non Profit operating bank statements from January through June 2020
Non Profit tax return (2018 tax return acceptable) to determine revenue and prove losses
Proof of Business location inside City of San Antonio
Employer payroll listing/count and IRS Form 941for the 1st quarter 2020
IRS Non Profit Status Letter
Board Resolution allowing for grant award to be received (signed by Secretary of Board)
Grant Eligibility Criteria
Grant applicant must be authorized representative of business or non-profit organization
Businesses and nonprofits with twenty (20) employees or less including:
Full-time
Part-time
Contract employees
Annual gross business revenue or nonprofit organization's board approved budget less than $2 million
Located within San Antonio city limits and must be willing to remain within boundaries for at least one calendar year from the date of grant award
Business and non-profits must not be in the process of filing for bankruptcy
Demonstrate a loss of at least 15% of revenue for the period beginning March 1, 2020 due to negative impact related to the COVID-19 pandemic
Business or nonprofit must be established prior to August 1, 2019
Businesses or nonprofits that received a grant through the Bexar County LiftFund Program are not eligible for grant consideration
The following type of businesses are not eligible for consideration:
Professional services such as:
Architect
Attorney
Certified Public Accountant
Dentist
Engineer
Interior Design
Land Surveyor
Landscape Architect
Optometrist
Physician
Real Estate Appraiser
Veterinarian
Gambling/Gaming Businesses
Liquor Stores
National Franchises
Payday & Auto Loan Providers
Sexually-oriented Businesses
Businesses in which a City employee or officer has a financial interest, as defined in Sec. 2-53 of the City's Ethics Code.
